“A personal development plan?” Most people who want to revolutionize their lives in less than 90 days don’t think about how they’re going to do it.
They just want to get started, but soon enough they find out that they don’t have enough time or money (even desire) to continue so they quit. Or they go full-speed ahead for a few days, and then just stop! These patterns are a recipe for disaster!”Know yourself. . . “
When creating and using your personal development strategy for the next 90 days you want to give steady and regular input. I recommending having the mindset of a gardener who take care of his garden day-in and day-out. The question is what kinds of results do you want to accomplish in 90 days and how much you think you’ll be committing in the next 90 days. You see, and personal development strategy takes into consideration your:
– emotional commitment
– time commitment
– money commitment
and then you want to see if it all makes sense.
Emotional commitment.
Seriously. How bad do you want to transform your life in 90 days?If improving a certain part of your life sounds nice then you would want to make a personal development plan that doesn’t require much work. If on the other hand you must change your life in 90 days then you’re going to be willing to put more work into your change. In my case, I’ve just finished making a personal development plan to generate more income from my website. The reason is that I want to move to a more suitable area but the rent is higher. For me I must make my 90 day transformation so I’m willing to do the work (hence this article!);-) The more you genuinely want to change your life in 90 days, the more I recommend making a personal development plan that requires more work and where you get better results. So on a scale from 1 to 10, one being not committed and 10 being committed until death (well maybe not death);-) where do you stand? Write down your answer.
Time commitment
Let’s say you have a good idea now of how much you want to change in 90 days. From there you want to find out for yourself if you are willing to make time for it. You also want to consider your situation and see if now is a good time for you to work on your transformation! In my case, I’m going to be moving in 3 months which gives me enough time to work on my 90 day plan (just barely!) How about you? Are you in the middle of a big project at work? Do you have enough things to deal with?Even though you’re dealing with many things now, I recommend giving your transformation as much of a priority as you can and want (but that’s just me. If you have 168 hours in a week, how many hours can you devote to your self-improvement? Write down the number of hours on the same sheet of paper (or word doc) that you wrote down your level of commitment.
Money commitment
Okay so you’ve taken a look at how bad yo want to change and how much time you’re able to devote to it. The next step of your personal development plan is to see how much money you can devote to it. Personal development plans take more money than you think. With that in mind, are you looking to spend $100 on it for food, equipment, books, etc. . . ? Or are you willing to put down $500? Or $2000?In my case, when I did the Bodyforlife Challenge, I bought the book at $20, would spend $550 on groceries and the gym and put down $200 for my reward. I was able to get better results because I spent more money wisely on my 90 day plan. How about you? How much money are you willing to spend on your plan? Remember that more is not always better, but more does represent your level of commitment. If you’re spending more then change your plan accordingly. If it’s less you can work around it if you’re creative with your personal development plan. In any case, write down how much money you’re willing to spend per month (yes on that same sheet of paper or word doc!);-)
Once you’ve written down how motivated you are and how much money and time you’re willing to devote to the plan, you can make a better decision for what will work for you. In any case, you’re in a much better position to work out your own personal development plan. Now get to it! 😉
